Species name: Short eared rock-wallaby
Scientific name: Petrogale brachyotis Habitat: This species of wallaby occur in rocky outcrops, such as gorges, hills and cliffs that are in range of a monsoon rainforest or savannah grassland where they feed. Food source: Grasses and other vegetation, such as small trees and shrubs. Adaptions: - Feet and tail have adapted so they can scale large rock faces. - The pads on their feet have become thick and spongy making them easily compressible on the rock surface, also maximizing grip. - The tail has become a counterbalance, so the wallabies can hop rapidly on uneven surfaces. |
